Fill the hole with plaster compound and sand the surrounding paint to roughen it up. Use the handle of your putty knife to tap the edges of your hole down. I cut out the existing shingles in the area around the hole. Using tin snips cut a piece of wire mesh that s large enough to bunch up and fill the opening when you push it into the hole. Insert noggin into ceiling under joint in new plasterboard. Patch the nail or screw holes by slipping a piece of roof flashing underneath the shingle.

Then apply 2 layers of plaster and 1 layer of joint compound to complete the repair. Then scrape around the edges of the hole with your paint scrapper to remove any flaky paint. Widen the hole until you have found the next joist and cut the existing ceiling off square to it and in the centre of it. I then covered the hole w.

Repair the hole in the wall with plaster. You will only need a f. If necessary wind wire ties wound around one or two dowels or sticks to hold it in place until the plaster mixture hardens.
