Repairing large cracks in plaster 1 widen the crack with the can opener and dampen the edges of the crack with a sponge.

Removal of existing air conditioning cover ducting and putting an off cut of plaster sheet up above the hole then troweling up with csr cornice cement.
2 fill the crack half full with patching plaster.
When you hit lath stop the bit won t go through wood pull out the bit and drill another hole about 3 inches from the first and about 2 inches from the crack.
Apply a second coat of plaster to the hole in the wall.
Now reinforce the hole with pieces of jointing tape cover the tape with a bit more compound and leave it to dry.
3 dampen the patch.

Using a 3 16 inch masonry bit drill a hole in the plaster about 2 inches from the crack.
Try to hit a strip of lath with every hole you drill.
Fill the hole with plaster compound and sand the surrounding paint to roughen it up.
Remove any loose plaster or debris from the edge of the hole using a drywall screen or small piece of medium grit sandpaper then use a damp rag to wipe away any dust.
Small screw and nail holes are easy to take care of but even larger holes don t require much.
